Did you know that honey can be a good addition to your pet’s diet?  Sugar on the other hand, which you will likely find in many commercial dog foods, has negative health effects and is not recommended.

We can take a lesson from our wildlife friends such as bears who have enjoyed honey and all it’s goodness.

What are the benefits you ask?  Juliette de Bairacli Levy who was an herbalist and author noted for her pioneering work in holistic veterinary medicine, states that in addition to being a source of energy, honey is a nerve tonic and the only heart stimulant which is not a drug.  In addition, it inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria in the digestive tract.

She recommends feeding honey to puppies and kittens with their milk and to sick dogs in their water.
